@ Collin,

I agree with you that many of the policies being pushed by Pelosi and Reid are not what this country needs, however the e-mail forwards frequenting many conservative circles seem to bend the truth in order to scare people. This is just as ridiculous as the policies they are bashing.

Scare tactics are used when people are too intellectually lazy to formulate a solid, fact-based argument. I don't think we should accept bad policy, we just need to argue against them in an intelligent, humble way.

Glad you like the new direction of the blog. I'm doing a lot of experimenting with various topics and ideas, so thanks for the encouragement! Tonight's post on financial resilience will hopefully generate some good discussion.

Cameron, That's a quality letter. Very level-headed and well thought out. I agree, a lot of rhetoric has been thrown around and these emails you get sometimes are humorously alarmist in nature. But...I will say this: the liberal thought and policies as pushed by the likes of Nancy Pelosi and our president are really disturbing on a lot of levels. Morally I feel they are generally outrageous, and practically, they suck as well. It's all rooted in a lack of belief in absolute truth. When the vast majority of our nation rejects the notion of absolute truth, we will cease to be an awesome country, and maybe that's our fate as a nation. But I'm fighting it where I can, with the people I can influence.

By the way, I like the turn your blog has taken. Survival is neat. Hope all's well!
